Guess Who’s Back!!

Hey Y’all and now I can say Y’all with more authority then before because I recently made a huge life decision. I moved to Texas!! I absolutely love it here, it’s so big and beautiful. The town that I am living in is pretty small compared to Las Vegas, actually who am I kidding, this town is the size of the postage stamps in Vegas. I mean according to the sign we do have almost 10,000 people but they must be hiding in the trees. We are a college town so they most likely calculated that 10K with the college in mind as 9,500 of the people.

Also I’m not alone in Texas, I have my wonderful boyfriend with me who I love to pieces. He is the best thing to ever happen to me. I actually went to high school with him, so I feel like we have grown up together. Its crazy how time seems to fly when you’re with the person of your dreams. His name is Phil. Its funny because I remember praying and asking God for someone with this, this, and this, and what is Phil, everything I prayed for.

Any who, I’m sorry for not posting for such a long time. Life gets in the way, and so does loosing the charger for my only device that I have access to my blog on also does make it some what tricky to post things. Now that I’m down here, I’m going to try and post more often and frequently. I may also try to convince Phil to do a post. Until next time!

hey guys. So I can’t believe I am writing this post. Yesterday was a horrible day that I will never forget. Yesterday my mom became my angel. She is in Heaven with my dad now. She had been sick since September and because she was sick she couldn’t hold down food or water down and she just got very weak. She lost a ton of weight and she just got worse and worse. And yesterday morning I had to do some stuff outside and when I came back in the house she was breathing shallow and had a glazed look in her eyes and so I called 911 and by the time they got to the house it was too late. I miss her so much.

A Called Generation

In pondering about the “pandemic”, I figured there is another larger pandemic going on. It is deadly. It is community spread. You have to wear PPE to avoid it. Many thousands are dying each day. It seems no one cares about these stats though. This virus is the virus of sin. This virus is deadly. Many people lose their lives each day to sin… This virus of sin is community spread. It is spread by peer pressure, self, and self-indulgence. It seems that no one is ready for battle. Why does it seem that no one is paying attention to this virus of sin?

The reason this virus is so rampant is because people don’t want to confront the enemy. There is fear, hesitation, and self blocking the representatives of Christ from overcoming. Fear because we don’t trust God’s power. Hesitation because we don’t fully believe God’s promises. And self blocks us because we cherish our life of ease and sin. How are we to be the generation that brings Christ’s coming when we can’t even trust God’s promises?

1st Peter 2:9 NIV
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

We can’t be comfortable Christians. We should always be striving for growth. Growth is ugly. Whoever said growth is slow, easy, and beautiful is a liar. Growth is fast, hard, and painful. Sometimes, growth is not the way we envisioned it. It can be scary. Sometimes it’s not even God has to allow things to happen to redeem his child.

In our daily lives, are we different? What’s different about our dress, music, and entertainment? Sure, it has a Christian label slapped on it. Really look at it though. It’s the same, with a couple “Jesus'” and “God’s” in there. Satan will do ANYTHING to steal you from the hand of God. He will impersonate, trick, and slander the name of God at any point he can. That’s the tricky thing about the virus of sin. Unless we have our spiritual “PPE” on, WE WILL BECOME INFECTED. Our “PPE” is the protection against sin. Some examples of this “PPE” are prayer, God’s word, and the Holy Spirit. These special protections will help us decipher what’s God’s and what isn’t.

There is a spiritual battle going on, and the youth of today are too busy with “Christianizing” TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Twitch. God doesn’t care if your news feed “glorifies” him. Putting “Christian” in your bio doesn’t change the person you are. God doesn’t care if your last selfie had a scripture or spiritual quote with it. God doesn’t care if your Instagram story has a bible verse. God cares about your heart. God cares about how YOU view him.

We have to fight for people’s lives in this battle. There are ways you can. You can get yourself right with God first. Look at your priorities. What are you the most focused on? After that, your influence will shine to others. It will help others to see the influence God has had on your life. Once you start to become an influence, things won’t get easier. They will get harder. I have experienced that in my own life. In these battles, all you can do is trust God. There is nothing else you can do. Going to the world won’t fix anything, it will just complicate things. Trust God, he’s all we’ve got.

Your Bubble Doesn’t Cancel Out My Experience

Sometimes, we can judge others’ experiences solely because of our own outlook. Let me explain further. Let’s say “Mindy” (a fictional character) has a health problem. This problem is deadly if Mindy doesn’t take a certain medication. This medication, in her friend circles, is frowned upon because of the ingredients. The ingredients don’t have any effect on her. They help her to live. She has no side effects when she takes it. What’s the problem? Why can’t her friends see that Mindy is alive because of the medication? This is what I call “bubble” living. Let me clarify “bubble” living.

“Bubble” living is when a person tries to get everyone else in their circle of friends to follow their exact advice for any situation, no matter how private or important. Let’s use the example of Mindy again. Mindy’s friend Mike has a “bubble” lifestyle. On a social media platform, Mike posts about how unnatural it is to go with conventional medicine. Mike also texts and calls Mindy and lets her know that her decision could possibly kill her. Of course, Mike is not wanting to hurt Mindy. He only wants to help. But, Mindy is not feeling the support that Mike is trying to send. Instead, she feels guilty, hurt, and frustrated. Mike doesn’t know the details of Mindy’s situation. He doesn’t know that there is not an unconventional method of fixing Mindy’s health problem. Mike is looking at Mindy’s situation from his “bubble”.

Just as in the example above, this happens quite frequently. Many people have “bubble” personalities in their life. Whether it be for health, life, or emotional decisions, there are always people who could have solved countless problem with their own approach. No matter how dangerous their advice can be, they still have to give it. They feel as though others should have to hear how they feel about what decision they are making. The “bubble” dwellers often make people feel guilty for the decision that they made.

There is a friend I have, Maggie*. She is going through cancer. She has a specific medication that helps her. This medication is cannabis. When talking to her she said to not tell anyone or associate her name with the medication for fear of others’ unwarranted opinions. This is not right. When people have to live in fear of what others say about what they’re going through, something’s wrong. What Maggie was doing was not hurting anyone. It was not putting her life in danger. It was not killing her. Her “friends” were worried that she was using cannabis. There would be a greater chance of addiction using hospital-grade painkillers than cannabis. She made the decision that was best for her. Not anyone else.

In closing, I’m not saying these people are evil, mean, or dumb. I’m saying the main reason for the behavior is not being educated. Sure, they’re smart people, but not smart enough in friendships to realize the toll they take on people. Next time a “bubble” personality comes along and starts telling you their view and opinion on your life or situation, “burst” their bubble with the truth. Personal experience is the key to connecting with people. Let them know how you do appreciate their advice, but don’t need it. Remember, keep positive and love others!

Signing off,
Carissa
