Staying positive in a negative world

With everything that is going on in the world right now, how are we supposed to stay  positive?

What do we look to when everything and everyone around us says something different?

The one reliable source that stays the same throughout time is the Bible. It is the instruction manual for our lives.

  • Pray

One way is to start your day with God. One way my family and I stay positive is to listen to God’s promises, there are a ton of videos on YouTube about that very subject. Praying and asking Jesus to help us with each of our needs will help us to know that there is someone above us to help with what is going on, and as the Bible says “Romans 8:28 – And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Also listening to worship music is great to make people feel positive. Also while praying seek God’s presence Psalm 16:11 “You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.”

  • Talk to your friends

Friends are great to talk to especially when you feel down and sad. They bring you up and help you feel positive again. The Bible says in Proverbs 16:24 “Pleasant words are a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” and Proverbs 17:17 “A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.” Proverbs 18:24 “A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother”  So friends are great when you need a little positivity.

  • Have the right mindset

I have learned that a positive attitude starts with a positive outlook and mindset.

One way that I get in a positive mindset is to sit in my favorite chair and cuddle up with a book and my cat and forget all the negativity around. Another way is to open the bible to my favorite scriptures. Some of my favorites are Philippians 4:13- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Isaiah 41:10 – Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

And when all else fails open the freezer and grab your favorite ice cream and go to town! HAHA!

Remember to not let anyone steal your joy!

Brussel Sprouts Recipe

Firrst off, if you haven’t yet check out my other blog https://letsfloodheaven.wordpress.com/ go do it now

So I will start sharing some recipes and here is my first one

Lemon Pepper Brussel Sprouts

This is so easy a child could do it.

INGREDIENTS

  1. Brussel Sprouts
  2. Lemon Pepper
  3. Olive Oil
  4. Baking Pan

STEPS TO MAKE THIS

  1. First you are going to want to preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Make sure the oven is hot when you put the brussel sprouts in.
  2. Taking your baking pan and pour approx 6 tablespoons of olive oil on the bottom of the baking pan, make sure it is enough to cover the bottom of the pan evenly, you may need more or less oil depending on the size of your pan.
  3. Take your brussel sprouts and put them on your oiled baking pan make sure they are ONE layer or they will not cook properly.
  4. Pour the desired amount of lemon pepper on your brussel sprouts, if you like more lemon flavor, like me, then pour more lemon pepper, less then less lemon pepper.
  5. Stick them in the oven for 35-40 minutes.
  6. When the time is up turn the oven to broil for 5-8 minutes watching the brussel sprouts so they don’t burn.
  7. Take out and serve hot with your favorite main course. I always put more lemon pepper on when they are done but that is 100% optional.
